Do yourself a favor and skip the completely unnecessary colorized remake. The lack of color actually works
for this film. Despite being filmed in the 60s, this movie was years ahead of its time and is still good fun today,
putting all overly extravagant Hollywood horror movies to shame. It was very raw and gritty but not over-the-top gory
like some of the more modern horror movies tend to get. However, the true brilliance of this film lies not with the
zombies but with the increasing friction between the main characters and the ever expanding sense of paranoia. The cleverly
hidden social message at the end and purposeful pessimism also add to the flavor. Despite some campy acting, Night of
the Living Dead remains a quintessential horror movie. No collection is complete without it. Grade: A
